Things that are true of the dog.
The first six designs. Each one is a fact about Scarlet, or about the two breeds that made her.
- Half Australian. The other half just says it is.
- Texas Heeler. Iowa raised.
- Two herding breeds. One couch.
- I'm not staring. I'm supervising.
- Merle heeler. Yes, that's a thing.
- Herds kids. Accepts payment in cheese.
Meet Scarlet.
She's a red merle Texas Heeler, which means half Australian Cattle Dog and half Australian Shepherd. The ears are oversized and always up. The face is mostly white with a merle patch over each eye like a split mask. The nose is liver brown, the eyes are gold, and the stare is the whole personality.
She herds the kids, poses for the camera, and sleeps belly-up on the couch. Two speeds, nothing in between. If you live with a heeler, an Aussie, or the cross, you already know the type. That's who this shop is for.
She came home as the reddest puppy in the litter. The pick belonged to the household's resident Spider-Man fan, who wanted the dog with the most red and named her Scarlet Spider after the comic book character. Scarlet stuck.
